Dear Students, you have voted for Mathilda, so we’ll start working on it as soon as the books reach the librarian’s shelf!

SCHEDULE OF SESSIONS

We will start the Reading on Nov. 17th.

Come with a page of preparation:

  1. Who is Roald DAHL;
  2. Who plays in the Mathilda Movie, who is the stage director, did it get any special awards;
  3. Each chapter will be presented by a group of two and you will be able to assess their performance. You have to read the text as well so as to do your part of the job: ask them any vocabulary point you need clarified! Presentation is made by a group of two or three students who should:
  4. Summarize the chapter and present the characters who appear in this chapter. Discuss the themes in each chapter (such as education, selfishness, hypocrisy, schools…). The mark will be based on: Vocabulary (1pt), Grammar (1point), ideas (2 points), original presentation (2points);
  5. all the class has to answer questions 1-2-3  BEFORE YOU READ P. 39

17 November : CHAPTER ONE PRESENTATION (DM+FD).Exercises 4,5 and 6 p. 39 and 7-8 p. 40

24 November : No class, you’ll be going to the Cité des Métiers with your Teachers.

1st December: CHAPTER TWO (SR+KV).  Additional homework: Literature on R.Dahl and Mathilda. Ex. 9, 10 and 11 p. 40 and 12 p.41

15 December: CHAPTER THREE (DC+VS). 8th December: CHAPTER FOUR (JB+GC). Ex. 13, 14 and 15  p. 41 22nd December: We Watch the Film (Part One) Homework: ex. 16 p. 42

12th January : We Watch the End of the Film. no homework.

19th January: CHAPTER FIVE (SB+CC+DF). Ex. 16, 17 and 18 p. 42 26th January: CHAPTER SIX (LB+MC). Ex. 17 and 18 p. 43

February 2nd: CHAPTER SEVEN (AB+KB+CC). Ex. 19, 20 and 21 p. 43.Feb. 9th: CHAPTER EIGHT (IF+VF+FC) Ex. 22, 23 and 24 p.44

RECAP and short test with the book. You will get one of the writing questions p. 45.

Homework assignment 300 words about Mathilda: summarize the book, give the words that you have learnt during the reading, choose one character that you will describe more specifically and give your opinion about him or her, imagine him or her in 30 years time.
